Scalloping & Fishing Charters

Website: plantationoncrystalriver.com

Located at the Plantation Resort, this full-service marina is ground zero for guided charters. During the summer (typically July through September), they run highly popular scalloping trips—often described as an underwater Easter egg hunt. Year-round, you can book expert guides for inshore Gulf fishing targeting redfish, trout, and snook.

Pro-Tips for Nature Coast Adventures

  • Manatee Season: While there are some resident manatees year-round, the best time to see them in large numbers is during the winter (November through March) when they seek refuge in the warm 72-degree springs.
  • Scalloping Season: Bay scallop season in Citrus County usually runs from July 1st through late September. Charters book up months in advance, so reserve your boat early if you are visiting in the summer!
  • Practice Passive Observation: When in the water with manatees, always practice “passive observation.” Float quietly at the surface and let the animals approach you. Never chase, poke, or corner a manatee.
